Represent everyday cyclists
To give a voice to ordinary, everyday cyclists across the Maynooth area.
About us
Maynooth Cycling Campaign is a small, volunteer-run group. We're not a sports club — we're here for the everyday journeys: getting to school, to the shops and to work safely by bike, for people of every age and ability.
Our vision
That cycling is an attractive, safe, healthy, social, cultural and environmentally sustainable activity for people of all ages and all abilities in the Maynooth area.
What we set out to do
To give a voice to ordinary, everyday cyclists across the Maynooth area.
To press local government for high-quality active-travel infrastructure and a safer road environment.
To promote cycling across Kildare and to work with other groups who share our aims.
Who we are
The campaign is run by a small volunteer management committee that organises our day-to-day work, led by our long-serving chair Gerry Dornan, withRoss Cadogan as treasurer. We're always glad of new hands —joining is the best way to get involved.
How we're funded
We get by on membership fees and the occasional local grant. Staying an independent local organisation means we can apply for funding streams — such as Kildare County Council community grants — that aren't open to national bodies.
Our Cycling Without Age trishaw was made possible with the help of Kildare Sports Partnership, Kildare County Council and Healthy Ireland, and Maynooth University, who keep it stored safely between rides. We're grateful to everyone who supports our work.
Every member makes us stronger when we ask for safer streets — and keeps us independent and locally funded. Membership starts at €30 a year.
