Our work

Campaigning for streets that work for everyone

We work patiently and constructively — making detailed submissions on local plans and road schemes, commenting on planning, engaging councillors, and joining national campaigns — to win safer, better-connected cycling in Maynooth and across Kildare.

Current priorities

Consultation open

Celbridge Road Active Travel Scheme

The Celbridge Road links Maynooth and Celbridge and serves two primary schools, yet it's a difficult and dangerous route to walk or cycle. We're preparing a detailed submission on the proposed scheme — pressing for continuous cycle tracks across side roads and safer junctions. The public consultation is open through early August.

Local win in our sights

Greenway access to Tesco

There's no proper walking or cycling access between the Royal Canal Greenway and Tesco. Improving that link would make everyday trips easier on foot and by bike — a small but valuable change we're raising with local councillors.

The state of cycling in Maynooth

Maynooth has come a long way. There are now some genuinely good pieces of cycling infrastructure in the town — alongside plenty that still falls short. The progress is real but uneven, and there's a fair distance to go before cycling here feels safe and welcoming for everyone. That's why we keep at it: every submission, every meeting and every member moves us forward.

Help us win safer streets.

Every member makes us stronger when we ask for safer streets — and keeps us independent and locally funded. Membership starts at €30 a year.
